In February 2013, Day Waterman College students competed, for the first time, with students all over the world in the 63 – year – old American Mathematics Competition (AMC) organised by the Mathematical Association of America (MAA). While the Mathematics Olympiad students in Year 8, 9 and 10 were registered for AMC 10, those in Year 11 wrote AMC 12.

During the south west Nigeria award ceremony organised by the International Academy for the Gifted Ltd/Gte, associate of the AMC, 3 of our students – Hosea Ogeleka (Year 10), Omar Ibrahim (Year 9) and Oluwadamilola Osinubi (Year 10) – were awarded bronze medals.

Also, 2 MAA’s School Winner Pin Badges, given to highest scoring candidates in schools, were won by Hosea Ogeleka and Omar Ibrahim who had same score. In AMC 12 category, the MAA badge was won by Vivian Oguguo (Year 11).
